Internships Give Milk Stop Aids
If you're looking for a fun, interesting and educational but above all, unique internship or voluntary workplace, then you've come to the right place!
Give Milk Stop Aids has many possibilities for volunteers and interns. Anyone with an interest in HIV/AIDS can apply to become a volunteer. The internships coordinator will then, together with you, see if there is a suitable place or project. Give Milk Stop Aids has various opportunities for interns studying for instance:
- Medicine
- Nursing (HBO-V in NL)
- Cultural and Social Education (CMV in NL)
- Social Work (SPH in NL)
- Physiotherapy
- Psychology
- Health Education
The length of the internship is up to the individual - a minimum stay of 10 weeks is usual.
Places for interns
Cameroon
There is a comprehensive choice of internship possibilities at the original location in The Apostolic Hospital Banga Bakundu. Interns are given guidance there by a local doctor and Marie Shebou, the qualified nurse of the Give Milk Programme. The regional language here is English.
Medical students can gain clinical experience here in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology and Paediatrics. They may also actively participate and work in the Give Milk Programme.

There are also opportunities for interns doing research, reading social work or communications, either in higher education or at university level.
Psychology and physiotherapy students can gain experience in their field with both adults and children. The hospital has a huge dearth of expertise in these areas.
In the district surrounding the hospital in Banga, there is a lot of work needed to educate and inform about HIV and AIDS. An educational information project is currently running from within the hospital - it could use a lot of support, help and expertise from the Netherlands
The Netherlands
There are also internships available in the Netherlands at the Give Milk Stop Aids Foundation.
We are currently looking for two university students in the fields; communication, social sciences, health education and 'ontwikkelingssamenwerking'. Internship contents can be individually specified.
Appeals for national and international monetary aid is Give Milk's main 'raison d'etre'. Supplementary sources of income are also actively sought for. Think of, marketing strategies via the new media and benefits and sponsored events.
