Projects
Give Milk Stop Aids projects are in Cameroon, West Africa. The Give Milk Programme was established in 2004 in a small country hospital in the south west of Cameroon and various other project locations have since been added since.
Pregnant, HIV-positive women are traced and supported, before, during and after the birth of their baby. Simple things, like offering formula feed for the baby (which is the most important measure) reduces the risk of HIV-transmission from mother to child to a low of just 15%.
We already see many advances in efficacy since the start of the programme. Not only do many children remain uninfected infected with HIV due to formula feeding, but there has also been a huge dissemination of information and education about HIV and AIDS, making the subject more freely discussable.
