Background
The Give Milk Stop Aids Foundation was founded in 2004 (previously called The Working Formula Foundation). The founders were at that time working as newly graduated doctors (not yet specialised) in the obstetrics and children's department of The Apostolic Hospital Banga Bakundu in Cameroon. They saw young children infected with HIV coming into the hospital in terrible condition. Being ill means a financial burden to the people, and there is no money. AIDS is a daily fact of life in Cameroon.
This was reason enough to get to work and create a new foundation.
The two young doctors founded The Give Milk Stop Aids foundation based on their medical background. The main aim of Give Milk Stop Aids is to restrict HIV-transmission from mother-to -child to a low rate of 15%.
The Give Give Milk Programme was therefore developed.
